19th Century French Uranium Carafe
19th Century French Uranium Carafe
Definition.
This Uranium colored carafe was made in the second part of the 19th century, by one of the famous French glassworkers.
The bottle is made of an alloy of glass and crystal, to obtain a more beautiful and purer glass.
In the 19th century, glass and crystal were not as pure as what we know today.
The carafe is mouth-blown, the base and the button are in uranium green crystal.
At the bottom you can see the cut-off of the blowpipe.
This beautiful convex carafe is perfect for storing a liqueur.
Very nice unique item for the collectors.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
