19th century pot pourri vases “Delft”
19th century pot pourri vases “Delft”
Definition.
very rare set of 2 earthenware vases made in the 19th century in France.
The vases are made of cast ceramic, after which they are richly hand-painted before being finished with a fired glaze.
At the bottom are marks LVD, which refer to the Delft artist: Lieve van Dalen 1692-1726
In the 19th century, earthenware was so popular that an earthenware manufacturer from Lille (France) began to copy these vases.
They are perfectly similar to the vases from the 17th -18th century.
Only the shard shows that they are younger.
These vases were mainly used as potpourri pots on the chimney or table.
Very nice unique set, with minimal damage to the feet.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique ceramic.
