Victorian opaline vases / candle holders
Victorian opaline vases / candle holders
Definition.
These beautiful chalice vases were made at the 19th century in France.
The vases are made of mouth-blown opaline glass.
This is a milk white colored glass with a crystal content.
The vases are so finely made that they were made by one of the better crystal houses in France.
Portieux and Saint Louis in particular were known for this fine opaline glassware.
At the top the edges are cast with a corrugation, crystal bubbles have also been placed around the vases.
You hardly see this last decoration in vases.
This may also indicate that they may have been used as a candlestick.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
