French 19th Century  blue carafe and glasses “Legras”

Definition.

Rare antique carafe with 12 matching glasses, made in the 19th century in a French glassworks.

Legras was one of the most famous glassworks that made bottles and decanters for French liqueur brands.

This carafe and glasses are made of mouth-blown blue glass.

A small content of crystal was added to obtain a brighter shine.

The glasses are made very thin, which makes them very fragile.

At the bottom of the items you can still clearly see the end of the blowpipe.

The glasses have a chalice shape and a fine ridge in the glass, this was very characteristic of Legras glassware from the 19th century.

Unfortunately, the carafe has deposits on the inside and several glasses have a mini chip on the edge.

Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
