19th century French goblet "Calais - La Gare Maritime"
19th century French goblet "Calais - La Gare Maritime"
Definition.
This beautiful goblet was made in the second part of the 19th century in France.
The trainstation "Calais - La Gare Maritime" was opened in 1849.
The glass has a very nice image of the train station at the harbor.
The glass is made of blown glass, with a small crystal content to achieve a more beautiful shine.
At the time, the glass was mainly made as a souvenir for those who took the train from Paris to Calais, to make the crossing by boat to England.
Very nice item for the collector of antique glassware.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
